GOAL:
Salvage supplies, survivors, and information from the wreckage of Vulcan.

SUMMARY:

The objective was simple enough - embark on a mission into the ruins of Vulcan for supplies, weapons, and survivors. And for a time, things were going well. However, the further the search and rescue party ventured within it’s crumbling walls, the further Salus was reminded of just how devastating the cost was for those who dare to exist outside of Martian control. The group was broken into various teams, team A with an objective to collect weapons, team B tasked with retrieving supplies, and team C combing the ruins for survivors. And despite harrowing encounters with guards and collapsing buildings alike, the teams carried on through the ashy remains of one of the most powerful settlements to exist on dystopian Earth.

The mission to Vulcan was regarded an overall success, each team able to retrieve what they were assigned, with team A collecting weapons, Team B retrieving Vulcan's black box, and Team C recovering a survivor, with the support of team D. However, this is as far as the success can be measured, with Vulcan entirely in ruins, still smoldering from the attack. With the extent and severity of the damage, Vulcan has been regarded as terminated and communications from Salus have ceased.

OUTCOMES:
Weapons Collected, Black box recovered, New NPC Injured Survivor John Doe recovered. Various supplies such as seeds from Pax, Medications, etc collected. Mass Injuries, No Deaths. Mission Success!

EVENT COMPLETE

And with the roar of the mountain, the Vulcan fell silent once more, returning to the mercy of the wind. The Vulcan would finally rest.

Their missions would be stamped a success, but in the minds of the teams they all knew, perhaps this hadn’t been so successful after all. They would carry this grief with them. The hope of the dying would now be their flame, a flicker in the dark to press on.

A cloud of dust would dull the sky, joining smoke and ash of the Vulcan that had snuffed out. Team A were left to reckon with the fact that, they had been lucky to escape. Their success was not in the retrieval of weapons, but in accomplishing what so many of the Vulcan hadn’t. They had survived.

All the while an impromptu rescue team rushed to their aid, navigating the dangerous terrain once again, hand in hand and arm in arm to make it to those at the Vulcan’s maw, guided in the darkness by the keen eyes of the intel team. The journey a testament of their commitment to their teammates, their friends. No man left behind.

Those that remained at the regroup site would sit with heavy hearts and heavier minds, the uncertainty of their condition undeniable to already shaken thoughts. What now?

They told each other this was almost over, the worst was done. They’d be home soon.   For now, perhaps. But to look at the bigger picture, they would all understand, deep down, this was only the beginning.
