TWS: Abduction, violence, injury, discussion of murder

GOAL:

Travel to a mysterious theme-park settlement to rescue seven characters taken from Salus by a former Scout and his team of raiders.

 

SUMMARY

 A sinister birthday invitation summoned a team of thirteen to the settlement of “Orlando”, the childhood home of a man who turned against Salus without warning. Upon arriving, the team encountered a variety of strange and whimsical traps, such as exploding animatronics in tourist attire, and carousel horses with hidden cameras and guns.

 

[CHALLENGE 1] The traitor, Ando, relayed his first set of instructions from an unknown location: to board a rickety kiddie coaster and search for a small key during the ride. Many participants were injured by surprise blades and bullets built into the refurbished attraction, but what ultimately defeated them was their combined weight on an unstable section of the track. After crashing to earth, the team managed to find the required key at the back of their very own car, and rescued two of the abducted Salusians in the ruins of the Character Meet’N’Greet. 

 

[CHALLENGE 2] Ando next directed everyone to the tunnels beneath the park, where the residents of Orlando once lived. The goal was to find five digits of a code that would unlock the vault where many characters were being held. While searching, one group encountered a set of pirate animatronics upgraded with defensive capabilities, while others encountered a sassy raider, whom they chose to knock out and leave behind. 

Once all five digits were found, the team converged at the vault, where they soon discovered that there was a missing sixth digit. This missing piece was delivered by a mechanical monstrosity reminiscent of an alligator… with a flamethrower in its mouth. Four more abducted Salusians were saved once this robotic beast was defeated. 


[CHALLENGE 3] To rescue the last captive, an android named Rhys, the team confronted Ando directly in the princess castle. There, they found Rhys partially disassembled, with vital parts stolen. Ando offered the team a choice: attempt to persuade him to return the parts, or fight him. At first, the peaceful approach seemed to be working, but ultimately Ando grew fed up and attacked. Despite the many tricks Ando had up his sleeve, he could not defeat such a large group of furious Salusians all by himself. The group voted to kill him, but he was able to barely escape with his life after one last surprise attack.


OUTCOMES:

 All seven characters were successfully rescued. One raider abandoned Ando and returned to Salus with the rescue team. 

Souvenirs obtained from the park include: a hat with silly ears, a sword from a pirate animatronic, a pinup previously stolen from the Modron biome and gifted to Ando, a princess dress and tiara, a themed plushie, a nice knife, a handheld bubble machine, Ando’s jacket, and the security gator monster (currently undergoing repairs and reprogramming). 

The Orlando settlement remains under the control of Ando’s raiders. The current whereabouts of Ando himself are unknown, but he has been banned from returning to Salus and blocked from Salus’s main communication lines.
